Rekha alias Monika was born on 25th August 1987 in Kottayam, Kerala. She is the only daughter of Maruthiraj - Gracy couple. She started her career as a child artist when she was two and a half years old. She made her debut Tamil film Avasara Police 100 through director K.Bhagyaraj. As a smart, cute looking child, she continued to be a promising star with marvelous performances in films like Endrum Anbudan, Pandiyan, Bramma, etc.

She discontinued her school studies after high school to pursue a career in films. She continued to be a successful child artist in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. She exhibited her excellent acting skills in the Tamil films En Aasai Machan and Indra. She gave an extraordinary performance in the English film.

The Prayer In The Angel. She became a popular Tollywood child artist through her Telugu films Ratchana, Chanty, Vimuthi, Vottu Emmaiyee Evaru Theedu, Kottuku, and more. She gave a stunning performance in the Malayalam film Theerthadanam, with actor Jayaram. Her Malayalam films Kannium Kannadi, Uncle Bun, etc. made her the audience girl of Kerala.

She made her debut Kannada film Soori and became a popular star among the public. She had acted in more than 40 films as a child artist.

She established her lead and heroine roles in films like Sandai Kozhi, Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi, Silandi, Vedanthangal, Kaadhal Valarthen, Mamu, Dating, and more. She acted along with actor Roshan Ranawana in the Sinhalese film Rosa Kele. She proved her versatility breaking the language barrier.

She is a talented actress with excellent dancing skills. She is also a popular model and acts in many commercials. She received Best Child Artist Award for Tamil film En Aasai Machan from Tamil Nadu State Government in 1995. She received Best Child Artist Award for Tamil films En Aasai Machan and Indra from Filmfare Association Awards in 1995.
